Description
MatchKings are the pride of the Sierra bullet family, unmatched worldwide and truly world class in all respects. Competitive shooters have relied on the consistent accuracy of Sierra’s MatchKings for decades, resulting in a history of state, national and world records that is the envy of our competitors. Sierra offers the widest selection of 30 caliber match bullets in the world today, producing bullets suited to nearly every form of long-range competition.
The 220 grain MatchKing #2240 won several 1000 yard competitions its first year out and has been winning every since. In fact, Robert Frey set a new world record for 1000 yard Benchrest in July 1993, breaking a world record that stood for seven years. Mr. Frey fired an incredible 4.076 inch ten shot group, breaking the old world record (shot with a Sierra 220 grain MatchKing) of 4.375 inches. Four months later, Frank Weber broke Frey’s record, again with the 220 grain MatchKing. Weber’s group of 3.960 inches stood as the mark to beat until John Voneida managed to better it in August 1995. He set a new World Record for 1000 yard Benchrest competition with the 200 grain #2230 MatchKing, when he fired an amazing ten shot group measuring just 3.151 inches, center to center, at 1022 yards. Where heavy Sierra MatchKings had dominated for a decade or more, the lighter 200 grain set a new standard. Not surprisingly, it has been an excellent choice for National Match competitors as well.
Sierra MatchKing bullets have set the standards worldwide for consistent accuracy in handguns as well as rifles. Since the introduction of the high performance Remington XP-100 and similar handguns chambering larger rifle cartridges, all 30 caliber MatchKings have been used in handgun silhouettes and long-range target competitions. Sierra’s famous MatchKing design assures superb accuracy, flat trajectory, and high momentum delivery with low sensitivity to crosswinds at all ranges.
Although they are recognized around the world for record-setting accuracy, MatchKing bullets are not recommended for hunting.
