Tinning Compounds

Tinning compound is a solder and flux hybrid.  It is used for cleaning and solder priming on copper, brass, steel, stainless steel, and cast.  By using a tinning compound you prepare the surface for soldering so that when it is soldered the solder flows more evenly and  creates a better bond.

Tinning compound is especially useful when working with older or very dirty materials.  It is also useful when working on surfaces that may not be acid bathed or sand blasted.

We have two types of tinning compound available.  The first is a 50/50 Tin/Lead compound.  It is mainly used when working with Tin/Lead based solders.

The second is a pure tin compound.  Although it could be used with any solder alloy it is normally used when working with pure tin, or very high tin alloys.  As it has no lead it meets all requirements for ISO 18000 and beyond.
